Hike Tenerife’s iconic Masca Gorge on a fully guided adventure through the dramatic ravines of Teno Rural Park. Starting in the mountain village of Masca, you’ll descend 5–5.5 km (about 3–4 hours) to the ocean, ending with a scenic boat ride to Los Gigantes.

Meeting Point – Los Gigantes

We’ll meet in Los Gigantes near the port: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wrRfj6fAowtvRVaa6, where free parking is available. From there, the group will take a private taxi to Santiago del Teide to begin the journey.

Transfer to Masca by shuttle

From Santiago del Teide, we take the official Masca Hike bus to the trailhead in the village of Masca.

3 :

Meet in Masca & safety briefing

We gather in the Masca visitors’ center for a mandatory gear check and safety briefing. Your ID or passport and closed hiking boots will be checked, as required for entry. Once verified, you’ll receive a helmet and trekking poles.

4 :

Begin the descent

The hike starts at the Masca visitors’ center and leads down a rugged 5  km gorge. Your guide will point out geological formations and plants as you descend roughly 650 m toward the sea. The terrain is varied – expect uneven ground, stone steps and steep sections (rated medium difficulty) – so the pace is leisurely.

5 :

Mid-hike break/picnic

About halfway down, we pause in a sheltered spot for a short rest and light picnic (you should bring snacks and water). Enjoy the canyon’s peaceful atmosphere and views of the valley below.

6 :

Finish at Masca Bay & boat transfer

The hike ends at a small cove in Masca. Here we rest on the beach, then board a pre-arranged boat for the scenic ride to Los Gigantes port. The boat crosses Masca Bay (note: swimming at Masca is prohibited) and cruises under the towering cliffs.

7 :

Return to the meeting point

We disembark in Los Gigantes and walk back to the parking area where the tour began.

What is the minimum number of participants required for the hiking tour to take place?

All of our hiking tours require a minimum of 4 registered participants to be confirmed. If fewer people sign up, we will contact you in advance to discuss alternative dates or arrange a full refund. What should I do if I want to book a private tour on a specific date?

How difficult is this hike?

The Masca Gorge hike is rated medium difficulty for descent. You will descend over 600 m on uneven terrain and need good balance (boots and poles help). A reasonable fitness level is required – you should be comfortable walking for 3–4 hours with short breaks. Our guide will set a steady pace.

Is special equipment required?

Yes. Closed-toe hiking boots, sturdy trekking or trail running shoes and valid ID are mandatory (entry is denied without them). We provide helmets, poles, and a pair of hiking shoes if needed. Sunscreen and water are essential (the trail offers no shops or facilities).

What age restrictions apply?

Children aged 8 and up may join (with a parent/guardian). Anyone under 8 is not permitted on the Masca trail. There is a child rate (see Pricing).

What if weather changes or conditions are bad?

Tours run in light rain, but for safety we reserve the right to alter plans. Notably, if the boat ride is canceled due to rough seas, guests will return on foot along the official trail. Our guides monitor conditions and have alternative plans ready in such cases.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

Advance booking is required. The Masca trail operators enforce strict rules: if you arrive late or without required gear/ID, you may be denied access without a refund.
