Is Rambla de Castro trail safe?

Yes, the path is well-maintained and not technically difficult. There are no sheer drop-offs directly on the trail – any cliff viewpoints have safe distances or barriers. We always prioritize safety: your guide will advise on caution at certain spots (like near the fort or by the water). As with any outdoor activity, good footwear and staying on the marked path are key. We do not enter the interior of the Gordejuela ruin for safety reasons, but view it from a safe spot. If anyone feels uneasy at any point, the guide will assist or can adjust the route slightly.

What if I don’t want to swim or the sea is too rough?

No problem at all. The beach stop is optional. If you prefer not to swim, you can relax on the sand, take photos, or enjoy the scenery. If conditions are unsafe (strong waves or high tide), we will skip swimming for your safety and perhaps spend a little more time exploring other points of interest on the trail. Your guide will make the call on the day of the tour. Either way, you’ll have a great time enjoying the coastal environment.

What is the group size and who will be in my group?

We keep groups very small – no more than 8 people. This makes for a more personal and flexible experience, almost like hiking with friends. You might be joined by other nature-loving travelers from various countries (our tours are usually a mix of English and Lithuanian speakers, and our guide will accommodate everyone). If you prefer a completely private tour with just your own party, we can arrange that too (see pricing for private tours).

What if the weather is bad on the day?

Tenerife’s north coast is generally sunny or partly cloudy year-round, but if there is heavy rain or an official weather alert, we will not run the tour for safety reasons (the trail can be slippery in rain). In such cases, we will offer to reschedule your hike to another day or provide a full refund. We recommend wearing that light jacket or layer as it can be cooler or breezier on the coast, especially in winter months or late afternoon.

Can children join the hike?

Absolutely – this tour is family-friendly. We recommend a minimum age of about 6 years for kids to enjoy it (the path isn’t suitable for strollers, and little ones should be able to walk on their own). Children should always be accompanied by an adult. They usually love the adventure of it, especially seeing lizards, walking over wooden bridges, and playing on the beach. If you have very young children, consider a private tour so we can tailor the pace and maybe use a child carrier backpack if needed.

Do I need any special equipment?

Not really – just the essentials listed in “What to Bring” (good shoes, sun protection, etc.). We provide walking poles on request if you feel more comfortable using them, and our guide carries a first-aid kit for peace of mind. No technical gear is required. If you have snorkel goggles and love the water, you could bring those for the beach, but it’s not necessary.
