All of our hiking tours require a minimum of 4 registered participants to be confirmed. If fewer people sign up, we will contact you in advance to discuss alternative dates or arrange a full refund. Yes, we provide pickup service for groups of up to 8 people from hotels in the south of Tenerife. If your group is larger, you’re welcome to arrive in your vehicles. This is a Medium to Hard hike – steep, high-altitude terrain with a 170 m climb and a long 1,400 m descent. While not technically demanding, it’s physically challenging and best suited for fit hikers with mountain experience. Thin air at 3,700 meters can cause fatigue, so rest, hydrate, and acclimatize whenever possible—not recommended for those with altitude sensitivity or vertigo.

Yes – permits are required both for the summit trail and access to the final 163 m. We arrange all necessary permits (included in the tour); you just need to bring your ID/passport. Without them, you can’t pass the checkpoint. Book at least 1–2 weeks in advance to guarantee your spot.

If the cable car or summit trail is closed (e.g., due to wind, snow, or restrictions), we’ll offer an alternative hike or reschedule. If weather forces a full cancellation, you’ll get a full refund or voucher. We monitor conditions closely, and your guide may adjust plans for safety on the day—please follow their instructions.

Yes – it gets very cold! Even if it’s warm at the beach, expect ~5°C at the summit after sunset, and colder at night, especially in winter. Dress in warm layers. We can provide jackets and gloves if needed, but it’s best to bring your own. Better to carry extra than be cold!

At 3,715 m, mild altitude sickness (headache, dizziness) is possible. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol before the hike, and acclimatize if you can. Most people feel fine, but let your guide know if you feel unwell—descending usually helps. If you have heart, lung, or altitude issues, consult a doctor first.

Fit hikers in their 60s have done well, but we don’t recommend this tour for most over 65 or those with health issues. Fitness matters more than age—if you regularly hike long distances, you may join. If unsure, contact us.

The minimum age is 15 due to altitude, hike length, and permit rules. Teens aged 15–17 can join if they are fit and accompanied by a parent. Cold temps and late hours can be harsh on kids. For younger families, we offer easier alternatives—ask!

No technical gear is needed, but proper hiking clothes are essential. Wear sturdy boots (no sneakers or sandals), bring warm layers, a windproof jacket, and a small backpack for water and snacks. We provide poles and headlamps. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and gloves are also recommended. See “Participant Guide” for full list.

Our guides are trained for emergencies. If someone is unable to continue, we adjust the plan based on the group size and conditions. On group tours, safety comes first—there’s no vehicle access on the trail. If unsure about your pace, consider a private tour.

This particular tour is focused on the sunset experience. We also offer a Teide Sunrise Hike (which involves hiking up in the middle of the night to catch sunrise at the summit) – that is even more strenuous as it skips the cable car and requires a pre-dawn climb. For most visitors, the sunset hike is a bit more comfortable (you get to start in the afternoon and still see stars at night). Both are incredible, but require permits and planning. 

Restrooms are only available at the cable car base (and sometimes at La Rambleta). After we start the hike, there are no toilets available—plan ahead and use the facilities before departure. In emergencies, nature is the only option.
