FAQs
It’s a strenuous, high-altitude trek (~11 km, +1,360 m) that requires good fitness. Even seasoned hikers find the climb challenging. Frequent short breaks and a gradual pace help you manage the effort.

All of our hiking tours require a minimum of 4 registered participants to be confirmed. If fewer people sign up, we will contact you in advance to discuss alternative dates or arrange a full refund. The hike may be canceled or rescheduled if severe weather (storms, heavy snow, high winds) makes conditions unsafe. In such cases, you will be notified in advance and offered a refund or alternate date. We also factor in the possibility of Teide’s unpredictable climate – warm sunshine at the summit can swiftly give way to cold winds, so we stay flexible.
Yes – it gets very cold! Even if it’s warm at the beach, expect ~5°C at the summit after sunset, and colder at night, especially in winter. Dress in warm layers. We can provide jackets and gloves if needed, but it’s best to bring your own. Better to carry extra than be cold!
While no technical climbing skill is needed, previous mountain hiking experience is strongly recommended. The long, steep ascent at night can be tough on those new to hiking. Training hikes and cardiovascular exercise beforehand will improve comfort.
Fit hikers in their 60s have done well, but we don’t recommend this tour for most over 65 or those with health issues. Fitness matters more than age—if you regularly hike long distances, you may join. If unsure, contact us or consider easier options like the Teide Summit sunset hike with the cable car up.
Pico del Teide’s summit is 3,715 m. Mild altitude symptoms (headache, dizziness, nausea) can occur. Your guide will set a steady pace to help acclimatize but staying hydrated and moving slowly are key. If you feel unwell at any time, inform your guide immediately.
No. Children under 15, pregnant travelers, and anyone with serious heart or respiratory conditions should not attempt this hike. The tour explicitly excludes those with such health concerns for safety.
Your guide is trained to monitor the group. If someone is struggling or experiencing altitude issues, the guide may choose a safe turnaround point. Safety is the top priority. Group members who cannot reach the summit can descend by cable car or with a guide at their pace.
